Habitat for Humanity and Nissan, Helping the Community Go Far
With 30 homes under our belt, Nissan employees have volunteered for Habitat for Humanity for 6 years. Now, a new Nissan was given to a Nissan sponsored, happy home owners, Esmaile Challi and Muna Lolo. The home is bursting with energy saving appliances and low-flowing fixtures, to keep in line with Nissan’s efforts to keep green. Nissan and its employees are proud to building stronger communities, and believe that Habitat for Humanity is a great way to get involved.
“Nissan has been a very important partner with us through the past five years. They have helped us serve five hard-working families so far and we look forward to continuing this relationship,” said Danny Herron, president and CEO of Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity.

The Nissan Leaf Leads the Way to Alternative Transportation
Nissan made #4, and with reason. The Nissan Leaf, the mass-market all-electric vehicle, leading the way to alternative transportation. An all-electric vehicle isn’t the answer to the fuel shortage, but it’s one of them. The new Nissan Leaf is the most affordable of the all-electric vehicles out there, starting at $25,000.00. There was a need for an affordable, all-electric vehicle that was also fun to drive. Global warming was definitely a factor in creating the Nissan Leaf. CEO Carlos Ghosn stated, “If you already have emission problems with 700 million cars, what problems are you going to have with 2 billion?”
The Leaf wishes to be part of the emerging markets for all-electric vehicles. That is only one alternative to the answer for global warming, if there is one. All-electric cars will have 10% of the global market in 10 years, but there will still be a need for all-electric research, to make electric vehicles competitive to gasoline vehicles. There is still much work left to be done, but the Nissan Leaf is a step in the right direction. The Nissan Leaf is for the next generation, which “needs to learn how to relearn” for the future. The world isn’t simple anymore, and the next-generation vehicles need to step up, and the Nissan Leaf will take the lead.
Introducing the *NEW* 2012 Nissan NV (Nissan Van)
Nissan introduces commercial vehicles to the US this spring. Models that will be available is the NV1500, NV2500 HD and NV3500 HD. Two roof levels, High Roof and Standard Roof levels will be available on the NV2500 and NV3500 only. “It’s been too many years since any manufacturer in this segment has taken a ’clean sheet’ look at the needs of owners and operators in the CV segment,” said Castelli. “We’ve invested more than five years researching the comfort, style and smart functionality demands that will enable business owners to accomplish more throughout their day. We plan on coming out of the box with segment-busting vehicles, so customer input was essential.” The NV is answering a market need to create a vehicle based on customer opinion, and it passed with flying colors! The NV is truly American in design and value.
The NV gives optimal comfort in large armrests and ample foot room, which many vans lack. Another design change was to make maintenance that much simpler with easy access to the engine. The Standard Roof is able to go through most drive-thru lanes, and the High Roof allows movement throughout the vehicle while standing up. Aftermarket upgrades are available, for example adding a ladder or other utility needs without putting holes in the roof. Who would’ve thought that a commercial van could have the usefulness of a pick up! We did.

Tips on Buying a New Car
Buying a new car is always exciting! Especially if you’re buying for the first time. As always, research your options before buying. A good tip is make sure you can pay 20% of the car as the down payment, and that you can afford to pay it off within 48 months. Take a fresh look at your credit history, high insurance rates, and maintenance upkeep of your new vehicle. These are all things to consider when buying a new vehicle. Research the vehicle options that you want, as well as the MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price). Next, figure out your finance options and a warranty for your new car. There are many places to get those online.
Look for new cars that fit your budget before you go shopping for your first new car. Also, having a copy of your credit history is extremely valuable when walking into a dealership. What are you using your vehicle for? Is it to transport your three kids and their friends? Is it to go camping and off roading? Do you work in construction and need it for hauling? Make sure to then read the reviews on the vehicles that you have chosen that fit your needs, and figure out the pros and cons of each. Knowing the average price for a vehicle and seeing if it is in your budget is the least you should know about your first new car.
You can replace your own car battery
If your like most of us, money is tight. While it is always best to buy the battery for your car from the dealer, it doesn’t mean that they have to put it in for you (Although this is usually free) It may not be the best time for your to do it, you may be wanting to learn some of the basics yourself or you might just want to have the bragging rights that say that YOU did it yourself. Lets be honest, sometimes an ego boost is needed.
Here are a few tip’s to getting your in mechanic on.
- When you buy it make sure that you let them know about any electrical issues you may be currently having and have the exact information on the make and model of your car. I think it’s a 205 isn’t going to cut it.
- While it seems like a no brainer, you would be surprised. Make sure that your motor is not running.
- Remove the negative terminal first. This is the minus sign on your battery. Ya I know, that is kind of convenient that they do that.
- Remove the positive battery cable next. You guessed it, a plus sign.
- Take a wore brush (Not the one from the bar b que but like it) and knock off any of the residue that is still on the terminals. Some people say poor a can of Cola on them and it will clean them up. It’s a battery change folks, lets not get carried away.
- Remove the old battery. It’s heavy, so be careful.
- To put in the new battery simply reverse the steps.
- Make sure that you take the battery to an auto shop or disposal yard that accepts car batteries. This isn’t an item you put in the garabage can.
One last thing,
GOOD JOB !!!!

Save Your Trip- Rotate and Balance Your Tires!
Whatever your dream road trip is, don’t let it turn into a nightmare because of a tire problem. Before you hit the road, have your tires rotated and balanced by Maita Nissan experts.
An out of balance tire can not only lead to greater risk of tire failure, but it could adversely affect ride quality, shorten the life of your tires, bearings, shocks and other suspension components.
Tire balance also referred to as tire unbalance or imbalance, describes the distribution of mass within an automobile tire and/or the wheel to which it is attached. When the tire rotates, asymmetries of mass cause the wheel to wobble. This wobbling can give rise to ride disturbances and vibrations and results in a wobbling of the steering. The ride disturbance due to unbalance usually increases with speed.
During the tire rotation, tires are inspected in factories and repair shops by two methods: static balancers and dynamic balancers. Tires with high unbalance forces are downgraded or rejected. When tires are fitted to wheels at the point of sale, they are measured again, and correction weights are applied to counteract the combined effect of the tire and wheel unbalance.
The experts at Maita Nissan’s service center have a thorough knowledge of Nissan car repair. Our mechanics consistently provide our customers with high-quality auto repairs because we know how much you depend on your car, truck or SUV.

Make Your Summer Holidays Safe & Fun: Don’t Drink and Drive
With 4th of July parties planned, Maita Nissan would like to remind you to have a great time, enjoy a few spirits, but be safe. It’s important that you’re safe and don’t get behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking.
Driving under the influence is the act of operating any motorized machinery after consuming alcohol or drugs. It is illegal and all states have also enacted laws that prohibit operating a motor vehicle while having a specific blood alcohol content (BAC) level. BAC and BAL are measurements of the amount of alcohol in a person’s blood. A BAC of 0.1 means that 1/1000 of the fluid in the blood is alcohol. This may seem small, but it does not take much for you to achieve this level. As an example, a 150 pound male who consumes five drinks over the course of two hours will have a BAC near 0.1 and a 115 pound female who consumes four drinks over the course of two hours will also have a BAC near 0.1. In all states it is illegal to drive your car when your BAC is 0.1 or higher. In most states, the legal limit for BAC is 0.05 and in California it is 0.08!
At a BAC of 0.1, you and your friends will most likely be drunk. Your thinking will be slowed and your vision, hearing, reaction time, movement and judgment of speed and distance will be seriously impaired.
Drinking and driving endangers the safety of not only the drinking driver and passengers, but also other individuals on the road…so drive safe and smart!
